How do I configure the RAID for my video storage?
Step 1: While the host computer boots, hold <CTRL> key and press <H> key to launch the RAID WebBIOS screen.
Step 2: Make sure the RAID card is selected and then click Start
Step 3: Click Configuration Wizard
Step 4: Select New Configuration, then click Next.
Step 5: Click Yes
Step 6: Choose Manual Configuration and click Next.
Stp 7: Select all detected HDD on the left tree (hold CTRL) and click Add to Array
Step 8: Click Accept DG, then click Next
Step 9: Click Next
Step 10: Make sure the following settings are active and click Accept
Step 11: Click Yes
Step 12: Configure your RAID to your specification. Below is an example confguration for RAID 5.
- RAID Level - RAID 5
- Strip Size - 1 MB
- Access Policy - RW
- Read Policy - Ahead
- Write Policy - Always Write Back
- IO Policy - Cached
- Drive Cache - Enabled
- Disable BGI - Yes
If all correct, please click Next
Step 13: Click Accept to commit the Virtual Drive settings.
Step 14: Click Yes to save the configuration.
Step 15: Click Cancel to disable SSD Caching.
Step 16: Check Fast Initialize and click Go, the virtual Drive will be created.
Then click Home button to return the main menu.
Step 17:You will see your physical drives are grouped as a RAID-5 DG.
One virtual drive is created on the DG.
Step 18: Click Exit, then click Yes to reboot the server.
Step 19: Once the Nx3 has rebooted you should have a RAID5 volume. This volume will need to be mounted and formatted (NTFS for Windows, ext4 for Linux).
Step 20: Start the Nx MediaServer to begin recording to the newly mounted RAID volume.
