In fact 'Force acknowledge' at notifications and 'Add Bookmark' on the Generic Events received does work.
But to be honest it might pretty unclear for the end-users.
'Force Acknowledge'/'Add bookmark' requires camera resource associated to event source or the target to set the bookmark for it.
In case of 'Generic Event' by default there's no camera associated to this event.
To attach some camera to this type of event one needs to add 'metadata' parameter to request with certain camera ID specified. Please see the API documentation for additional information.

For example if server has ip 192.168.0.1 and I want to create bookmark with acknowledgment for camera with id ed93120e-0f50-3cdf-39c8-dd52a640688c the request will look like:
http://192.168.0.1:7001/api/createEvent?source=test&metadata={"cameraRefs":["ed93120e-0f50-3cdf-39c8-dd52a640688c"]}Nx team has planned to add some logic to the 'Generic Event' advanced settings dialog where enabling 'Force Acknowledgment' will show warning text box with text shortly explaining what we just described. Presumably it will be available in version 4.0.

Are you going to make the "Force Acknowledge" notification stick even if the NX Client is closed?
Right now I got issues with this feature in the following scenarios:
1. NX Client is not open at the time of the event. But the operator open NX Client after they get for example an email warning. In this case, the notification do not appair in NX and it looks like there is no bookmar. The bookmark seams to be created after someone click the "Acknowledge" button.
2. The NX Client is open at the time of the event, but the user close the client before he "Acknowledge" the alarms. Next time the client is opened, all events will be gone, and there are no bookmarks.
