What is the Nx Witness Server Web Admin Interface?
The Nx Server Web Admin interface provides a simple and convenient way for System operators and administrators to view live or recorded video and configure Nx Server and System settings via a web browser.
How to access Web Admin settings
- Open the browser and enter the following address:
http://<server_ip>:<server_port>server_ip = the IP address or URL of the Nx Server you are requesting this information from.
server_port = the port your System is using (typically 7001)
- Log in to the Nx Web Client with your username and password.
Example: email@example.com and NxDemoUser
- Click the Settings tab on the top toolbar.
Note: Nx Witness supports Google Chrome, Firefox, Safari, Opera, and Edge.
The interface has 5 tabbed pages accessible to operators depending on their user permissions: Settings, View, Information, For Developers, and Help.
The Settings tab contains two views: Server and System.
The Server tab allows System Owners and Administrators to view and modify settings for a Server.
- Port –The port the Server uses to communicate on the network.
- Reset Server – Reverts Server to default settings
- Detach Server from System – Detaches a Server from its existing System
- Restart – Allows remote restart of the Server application
- Change admin password – Allows reset of the System Owner password
The System tab allows System Owners and Administrators to view and modify settings for a System.
- Name – Allows renaming / modifying the System name
- Merge Systems – Initiates System Merge process
- Nx Cloud – Nx Cloud connection management (connect / disconnect)
- Traffic Encryption – Allows changing the encryption level for System traffic and video.
The View tab opens a browser-based client for viewing live/recorded video from a System.
Camera Panel (Left)
The Camera Panel in the web client allows operators to find and view live or recorded video from a System.
Camera View (after selecting a camera)
- Adaptive Video – Video streams will display in hi-res or lo-res depending on network speed. It can be manually changed. Depending on CPU trans-coding into additional resolutions is also possible.
- Camera Details – Provides details about a camera to assist developers during integration and testing:
- IP Address or URL
- Low stream
- High stream
- Link Settings: Use Temporary Key, Use Credentials, Duration, Resolution, and Playing Position.
The Settings tab contains three views: Graphs, Storage, and Log.
- Graphs – Displays a real-time graph of Server performance indicators: CPU, RAM, HDDs, and NIC.
- Storage – Displays all the connected storage paths (HDDs, NAS) for the Server.
- Log – Contains System logs used in troubleshooting/support.
The For Developers tab contains tools for developers.
- Generic Events Generator – A tool to help integrators/developers create HTTP Generic Event calls.
- Server API – The Server API - includes an API Testing Tool, API Changelog, API Documentation, and Server Settings documentation.
- Camera Details Panel – A quick explanation of how to use Camera Details.
- Video Source Integration SDK – An SDK to integrate 3rd party video and I/O devices and 3rd party NVRs/DVRs.
- Storage SDK – An SDK that allows integration of non-standard 3rd party storage mediums.
The Help tab contains links to the Support Portal, the System Calculator, and Mobile Apps.
